Family Holds Remembrance Rally for Abe Farkas:

Seeks to Generate Tips Regarding the Murder

Chester, Pennsylvania- The family of the local grocer and good samaritan Ladislav "Abe" Farkas is holding a remembrance rally on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the site of his murder on the 800 block of West 5th Street in Chester, Pennsylvania. The rally will be outdoors and is scheduled to run from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm.

The rally will be a remembrance service with speeches and food, to which all friends, family, and supporters are invited and encouraged to attend. Attendees are asked to “bring memories and wear red.”

The rally will reify the family’s interest in seeking justice, as well as consolidate the community in an act of solidarity and defiance against violence. Monetary donations will be accepted and put towards funding the $10,000 reward for tips that is being offered in tandem with the Citizens Crime Commission. More importantly the rally will serve to further publicize the anonymous tipline, which is 215-546-TIPS(8477). Maureen Beail-Farkas, Abe Farkas’ wife of thirty-six years, says: “The rally is an effort to make people aware of the anonymous tipline and reward. We hope that people will come forward with tips, from a place of remembrance and desire for justice and with the knowledge that anonymity will be strictly protected.”
